Will DiVinci Resolve output 4K x 4K mpg4 h 264 from sequential images? The ones I have tried just do not support that big, or the output was unviewable.

h264 will struggle with 4k, in fact even my i7 5960 16 thread will struggle with some 4k, you have to do it in h265 to get any kind of decent playback,

resolve free has a UHD limit 3840 x 2160

h264 will struggle with 4k, in fact even my i7 5960 16 thread will struggle with some 4k, you have to do it in h265 to get any kind of decent playback,

h.265 is significantly more taxing on the CPU than h.264....if your CPU has HEVC acceleration it may be close to equal but the numbers are usually about 50% more CPU utilization....plus h.264 acceleration is embedded in just about every video card and CPU in existence.
the rule of thumb is the smaller the filesize the bigger the hit to the CPU on encode/decode...if you are hitting a wall with h.264 vs h.265 there is somewhere else in the system to blame
