I am not familliar with the TC 850. Is that the 850 before the extreme came out?

850 is the original 4RU, 8-input model.

850 is the original 4RU, 8-input model.

What are the differences between that and the extreme

The biggest difference, if memory serves me right, is the the 850 Extreme added 8 ISO records and custom transitions or at least those were the two big additions.

Was that due to hardware differences or software? I'm wondering if the regular 850 would be upgradable to run AE?

Thanks,

Hi Fritz,

Only a 455/855 can be upgraded to 460/860, then to AE. The 850 could only be "traded in" towards a new 8000.

Thanks

Jeff

I am looking to increase my camera inputs from 4 with my current TC 460 to 8. Aside from the increase in inputs, what other upgrades and advantages does the TC 850 have over the TC 460?

It really doesn't. The 850 is two generations behind the 460 and, among other things, cannot be upgraded to Advanced Edition.

Do you still have the 850?

The Newtek trade-in program expects the user to trade up towards a more powerful model. Going from an 8-input to a 4-input switcher would be trading down and there is no credit. The 850 could be traded towards an 8000. I'm in the US - please verify with a Newtek dealer in your country.

Thank you

As we always use only two cameras for a lecture, That is why we are going for 460.

I'm not sure what's up with this original post. The thread was originated by "Launchmedia" listing two Tricasters for sale on 12-12-16. There have been no responses in this thread by Launchmedia to any of those interested. The original post lists the 850 for sale for $1500. The user has only two posts on the NewTek Forums. The first post started this particular thread. The second post is in the old VT5 section, and it lists the same 850 for sale with the same photos and description, but this time for $6300. That post contains a link to an ebay listing that is no longer vaild.
