Speed Modeling Challenge #279 It came from Star Wars

Rules:
1. Every two weeks or so there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit between 60 and 120 minutes (plus 60 minutes if you're new to LightWave). You should spend no longer than the allotted time modeling. Then texture your object(s), light the scene, and post a render of your model to this thread. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling time is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger. (For wireframe help go to: http://www.artssphere.com/plugins/polygoncoloring.php
3. LightWave must be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
6. If there are a sufficient number of contributors, a "winner" will get the chance to set the subject of the next challenge. Input from the community is often used in this process. If there are only a handful of contributors, they can discuss this together and pick the next topic, designating one of them to post the new subject in the Forum.
7. Have fun! This is a community event designed to encourage you to keep modeling. Whether you're a new LightWave artist or a seasoned professional, working with these tools is the only way to get better.

Wanted to put real doors on the main body, but ran out of time! So I used a bump map instead.

Great model and render, NeonZ. I think your creativity is better than mine for this challenge. I am finishing Luke's saber now. For your wires, did you use Object Properties --> Edges --> Patch Borders or did you use the polygon coloring plugin? Just one more entry from someone, anyone?

Maybe I'll try my hand at a T-47 Airspeeder.

I used the plug-in linked to above in Modeler to color/shade a duplicate object. Then in Layout, for each layered object property, I went to the EDGES tab and checked "Surface borders", "Silhouette edges", and "Intersect edges". Renders worked for sub-D and normal polygon meshes. My turret used both.

I had hoped to model a couple more things but I don't have the time. Please, one more entry from someone?

Yes i am coming. will you please extend this for one more days (or perhaps till this weekend) this is a huge subject and i am very busy with my job.

Dear bellmore, no offence but you have asked for extending as far as i remeber and it has been accepted, (sorry if this sounds arrogant).

I guess more people will participate if the deadline is till the weekend and you can also upload more.

Thanks for understanding.

Thanks bellmore for the extending and the nice topic,

60+ minutes of modeling and half an hour for this terrible rendering,

I have not watched any star trek like movie in my life and my poor result is because of my lack of imagination in this area.

please keep working hard and ask others to join us.

Cheers.

Just purely for the sake of humor. I could not resist. Modeling time negligible obviously. Sign is a clip map. Not a serious entry.

I am like, hey you actually gave me points!... lol

Congrats to NeonZ also. Not a lot of modeling this time around. But it was all real good.

I figured since you took the time to submit I should judge it. It was a pretty clever entry.

I agree with bellmore, very clever Surrealist! Got a good laugh out of it. I'll post #280 in a few hours.
