Thanks for the link. [Im on O/S Windows 10].
Im perfectly happy with the editing software i have now but given

well thats enough for me to at least try it out.
Have now downloaded software only need to give it ago.
The demo/tutorial video was great and very informative.

i'm relieved that the Adobe Monopoly / AutoDesk Monopoly is collapsing   :)

they used to make fantastic products though, so i'm happy they gave us those.

but these days their upgrades are nothing special, and the subscription policy is not only positive.

so very happy (...and relieved...) to finally see some real competition.

Looks nice. I'll definitely give it a look, though it seems to be missing a scripting facility unless I missed it when I read the features.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been waiting for someone to make a good Photoshop replacement that is not a rental, and not missing half the features. I've been getting into fusion too, so pretty soon, it may be bye bye adobe. Affinity Designer looks like a good Illustrator replacement too.

yes, I had the beta which I think you can still get, it is almost identical as was serifes previous packages, they are also quite powerful but aimed more at the novice user, these just make the interfaces more like what the professional is used to, and at a fraction of the cost to adobe, you can phone them and haggle to get even better deals, I think one time I got every bit of software they had released for about 100

I thought people who no longer want ps went to photoline.
Problem is just like any 3d app can't dethrone maya, this one won't dethrone ps.

I wasn't really wrong about octane. Nostradamus was right. It sucks and people are losing patience.

octane does not suck .. OCTANE plugin for MAYA sucks i think. Well we call it JUAN difference :) it is rock solid.. I tell you Octane for Lightwave saved our archviz life. Please do not inject doubt to forums :) Of course give me redshift too .. even fstorm. more renderer is better..

Back to topic.

You just cannot believe how much i hate subscription lately. I was really defending it.. But not anymore.. Any cool alternative .. trust me people will embrace it like they embrace messiah.. People had it enough

I eventually am hoping to cancel my Adobe subscription and this may fill the gap of photoshop....but that is a tall order

I really doubt any app could fully duplicate photoshops usefulness and productivity, but this looks promising to at least answer the majority of my needs

relative.

But don't you have photoline? I know some peeps were into it.
Doesn't really matter to me any app with a canvas is good enough as long as I can do freehand with my tablet. Even this

I gave it a look, for now apart Photoshop that is the best but that i don't use, i prefer Corel Paintshop pro. I own Photoline too that is great but more similar to Photoshop and a little too technic for hobbysts like me. The good thing is that people now has many valid choiches and not only one. Bye.

They're just the moaners though, same as this place. Sounds like everyone is unhappy, but actually there are loads of people doing tonnes of work using LightWave that don't moan as they're too busy working :)

I've been using the Affinity "suite" for about a year now. I'd be interested to know what you think after some time with it.

IMHO....
Photo is just okay. Very buggy. $50 is about right. (Actually GIMP is a lot more powerful and feature rich.)
Designer (their Illustrator analog) in many ways is a joke (at this point).

They both look great and are very easy to acclimate to, but they're both way too immature so far.
Most, but certainly not all, of the problems occur when trying to get what you've created out of the .afdesign .afphoto file formats.

Wow, Affinity Designer final is released, the price is incredible, that was an instant buy.

https://affinity.store/en-us/

I have PhotoLine and feature-wise it's very good but the UI / Icons / Menus really don't work for me. For me Affinity is much easier to use. Until now I use mostly PaintShop Pro Ultimate which is not bad for some image corrections but it has no vector graphics and some other limits. I'm looking forward to replace it with Affinity Photo on Windows (beta available). I hope it will include EXR support.

Edit: Haven't worked much in Affinity yet so I hope the stability is good.

That doesn't make any sense. A lot of the top posters at cgtalk for example, are beta testers, TDs for top studios, people in position not junior artists. Those guys are busy but find time. They complain coz of low quality products. Those that don't complain probably have lower quality standards so whatever is released is fine for them.
