I haven't read it yet but at a glance it looks very inviting and well laid out and I'm going to read now.

Good review!

I've been a loyal user since the original beta version, and I can't count the number of times 3DC came through for me in a pinch, especially with quick-turnaround LightWave jobs. I haven't used it so much this year but the review makes me want catch up with the new features. :)

I love ZBrush but the fact 3D Coat has Photoshop style layers for texturing / painting is a huge plus. The UV tools also look very tempting.

I agree! I use ZBrush too but 3DC is generally my first go to program for quick sculpting, painting, and UV mapping because of its simplicity--much like why I generally turn to LightWave for animation and rendering. Both are great programs but I tend to reserve ZB for special situations (i.e, to use FiberMesh or when if I need to work with an existing ZB sculpt.) For many things I think 3DC can be easier.

They are excellent.

Re-topology tools are also fantastic especially in situations where you need to do it manually.

I agree. Lately I've been using 3DC to prepare sculpted toys for 3D printing. Autopo and other retopology tools have made this so much faster to do.

Yup I use em as a "perfect" companion to my sculpts from wherever; For when I need precise retopology.
