Rob,
Before the forum went down, you mention you were going to see how you get the Japanese studios Training DVDs and english versions of their plugins released for Western viewers.
With LW Next and your health, I garner there hasn't been much movement on this .

They just released new set of FREE plugins (in japanese though)

“YS_Skelegon_Kit,” the 3nd package of YS Plugins, has been released on the official website of D-Storm,Inc. YS Plugins are essential plugins for LW animation which Yamatoworks and Sublimation have developed in cooperation.

YS_Skelegon_Kit includes four plugins; YS:Skelegon_Property, YS:Skelegon_Renamer, YS;Skelegon_Selector and YS:Skelegon_Optimize.

YS:Skelegon_Property is, as the name says, to set up properties of skelegones on Modeler.

YS:Skelegon_Renamer allows you to easily change the names of skelegons.

YS:Skelegon_Selector displays Skelegon Tree panel and you can activates YS:Skelegon_Renamer and YS:Skelegon_Property on it.

YS:Skelegon_Optimize converts skelegons set up on Modeler into bones on Layout.

These four are ones of crucial plugins for rigging with LW. Also other helpful plugins will be released soon.

Highly recommended for Lightwavers!!

Thank you for your attention!

-----

“YS_Character_Kit,” the 2nd package of YS Plugins, has been released at the official website of D-Storm,Inc. YS Plugins are important plugins for LW animation which Yamatoworks and Sublimation have developed in cooperation.

YS_Character_Kit includes two plugins; YS:Char_Select_Manager and YS:Pose_Clip.

YS:Char_Select_Manager is to make a panel with buttons to select bones and nulls so you can easily pick them up.

YS:Pose_Clip is to register key poses so you can reconstruct the same poses in one move. For example, at Yamatoworks we often use it for hand animation. Once you bend bones to make a fist and resister it, you can make it again simply by sliding a knob on the controller. So neat! It saves you a lot of time when you animate and it also allows you to mix multiple poses.

These two are ones of crucial plugins we Yamatoworks and Sublimation choose. Also other helpful plugins will be released soon.

Highly recommended for Lightwavers!!

Thank you for your attention!

Julez4001, thank you for the resurrection!! It was one of several threads that I was deeply interested in, contributed to, and was majorly irritated when they went KaPooofff! Given how strong the Japanese Lightwave community appears to be, particularly in the areas of NPR, anime, animation, etc. it should be "automatic" that the work that they are doing is 'translated,' 'documented,' and or integrated into Lightwave. UnReal Extreme is a good example. Great NPR work has been done, but, 'translated??' 'documented??' only sort of. It takes way too much trial and error. It needs to be updated and made visually responsive to un-screen tweaking. Many of the animation tools from Japan, should be made available to American studios. They are obviously very enthusiastic and 'knee-deep' in the ongoing development, and the Pacific isn't "that big," so I am hopeful. Thank you again for bringing this to the foreground, any response from Rob? Newtek?? Crickets, again...;-)

Not sure guys what exactly are you counting on, months go by and once every blue moon you got a short message that "someone is looking into this..." or similar, there's no way this will happen, not before the LW2017 is released and even after that there are very very small chances that something will happen as there will be other things to do, besides I don't think anyone from LWG is reading the forums as they don't have any free time.

Well one can hope.. I just hope the next time LWG flaunts an interview or nod to japanese users on the official Lightwave site, he'll remember that there is no bridge between us and them and why go through all the effort if he ain't going to secure one. They are given away free stuff and have cool training for sale but it means squat cuz we can't read japanese nor even purchase the items if we could.

Now that I know these tools exist, it seems pretty essential that LW3DG facilitate users in the rest of the world getting them. Localization is something you can pay someone to do, that won't affect the devs. They are fighting for market share, and things like this can give LW a better profile among users who are looking to create anime and similar stuff, which is at least 25% of kids in art school these days. If they could establish a positive link to this stuff, it could be a legitimate feather in the LW cap, to get new users, and help the rest of us improve our animation pipeline's efficiency.

Some of the best anime houses are using Lightwave. The next anticapated features are from LW houses, example below

Julez4001, Hello... What a great find!! Major. This is the best demonstration of the strength of the Japanese market and focus, which is a niche that Lightwave should dominate, in total. No one else is 'claiming' this area, and it has applications in all kinds of non-anime animation, NPR illustration and arch viz, as "realistic" certainly has it's applications, clearly, but this NPR approach can set a group or studio apart, rather than go head on in the realistic render department, which the 'big guys' dominate. This is fantastic. Let the Japanese lead in the modeler re-development, contribute to Layout with NPR tools.... just do it, like yesterday. Again, pardon the <rant mode> but I really enjoyed this example as I had not seen it yet, thank you Julez4001.

I have been working on my series concept with Anime style in mind. Lightwave and the new YS Plugins (now in english and Ryan'se english videos) are tons of tools to do the stuff you need it to do.
