I have this situation where I have multiple instances of the same surface with different postfixes, I want to merge all those surfaces to one surface because they are the same. I don't know how to do this.

You could try using this to select all the ones you want to resurface.

Unsure of how many of how many total you are wanting to re-assign, but you can multiple-select polys by surface in Modeler statistics panel. Each "+" will add to the previous selection unless the selection is cleared prior. So, if the search script isn't a good fit, because there isn't a string that correctly selects what you need, this can still work. If it is a large majority that need combining (80%-90%+), select all polys, reassign, select the unique ones and reassign again. Use two versions of the model, both open in Modeler, to copy/paste surfaces from the original to the new.

You could try the following link. Files are python if you need lscript or c plugin I have both somewhere. If c plugin, just need to know if 32 or 64bit.
