View Full Version : Rendering 360 videos in passes? Considerations?

(blue-skying a bit here.....)
I've been slowly building up a more and more elaborate 360 video render, but it's quite time consuming at render time. I was wondering if there is an established workflow for, say, doing the all-over environment, then adding bits and pieces within that environment, but without rendering the environment AGAIN. For any given render not all the pieces would be present.

Occlusion would seem to be the main sticker, assuming we jettison any thought of GI at the start (and I have). Would Depth Mapping suffice to allow one to composite all the piece together?

It's tough... definitely take a render hit for 360. Here's a version of something I tried using depth. Quality sucks. Only 2k I think. https://littlstar.com/videos/f2e039e4 But depth worked. Still have to limit how I do things. Fractals, etc and make sure comping is minimal... or at least within the borders. I did this render in a few passes and comped them in AE. Unless it's real-time, or all in-scene... I have to do it in post.
