Does LW create a separate object for weight maps in Layout. After I applied weight maps and endomorphs to my object in modeler and saved it, another object under the same name appeared on Layer2 in Layout. This second object appears as a crosshair null object; It isn't the child or parent of anything in the shematic or scene panel but yet when I delete the copy it deletes all my maps.
Is this supposed to happen? Is it possible that when I loaded my scene the skelegons that are on layer 2 in modeler got put into the scene as a null object but still affect the model?

You want your skelegons to be in the same layer as your mesh once you load it to layout.... you can create it in another layer to keep things clear... but after that you'll have to cut/paste it in the mesh layer.

And yes, a layer that has only skelegons in it will not load anything since you have to convert the skelegons into actual bones:

under the ITEMS tab select ADD --> BONES --> CONVERT SKELEGONS TO BONES.
