I think most of those morphing effects are done in post. For morphing effects you could try Winmorph http://www.debugmode.com/winmorph/ (Free) you will need adobe premiere or Vegas Video for video to video morphing.

To morph from a person to a CG character you would need to first shoot the person against a blue/green screen, then animate the character to match the motions of person, animate the morph frame by frame, key out the green and composite in a background.

lots of effects/post production tutorials can be found at http://www.creativecow.net/

Good luck. Morphing video can be quite a tedious task but looks great when done right.

Alyssa Milano ohhhhhhhh yehhhhhhhh

All kidding aside I think that show is so demonic, Satan may be the Executive Producer...

For After Effects or Shake there is great plugin called Re:Flex, it's done by RevisionFX and you can get more info here:

There is also the old Avid Elastic Reality, you may buy it from a second hand now and it's still really powerful for this kind of effect.

Elastic Reality technologie is now used in another application from Avid, I can't recall the name tho. But as I said you may buy it from second hand for a cheap price.
