Hi Folks.

Now that I have Lightwave 2015, I am currently doing some tutorials for my friend who also has Lightwave 2015 and a 3D printer and just wants to learn how to use Lightwave and make stuff. Today I created a tutorial for him, his first, that shows how to create a gift tag. If anyone wants it, find it attached to this post :).

Hi Paul,

Nice tutorial. I would simplify a little - hit s to save; for the Boolean - do it in the one layer, select at least one poly of the cylinder and use Speed Boolean subtract. Same applies for the text (of course you need to select a polygon from each of the letters). There are a couple of spelling mistakes and one where you say the navigation tools are top left rather than top right :)

Otherwise nice little project. I would also perhaps say in an intro that the scaling in LightWave is accurate and that the user will need to save out as STL in order to load it into their slicer/3D printer software.

And apply the proper scale transform when exporting or the STL will be huge.

Yes indeed. Often the slicer software you use will ask what measurement system your units are measured in...

Thanks for the feedback, I'll check it out. Here's what Mike printed after following the tutorial.
