Again,

I have a flying bird, 3 morphs.

With instances I copy a 1000, they all move their wings at same interval.

How to create lots of different variations?

You cant... all instance of an object will inherit the same deformations as that object, you'll need to create a few variants and instance those.

you could use DP instance / DP instancer

What I do is

Save the animation with mdd baker.
Remove morphs
Clone your bird at least three times.
Apply the mdd to those birds.
Change the offset of the mdd's so every bird has a different one.
Instance them.

With HDinstance we were able to offset MDDs. I hope in LW2016 we can do the same.

you can't according to what i was told, as LightWave instances are not volume based

you have to use DP instance
