View Full Version : Save and freeze an object with APS or render subpatches on?

OK, first of all, I have a simple plane object with a black and white image as the texture that I am using for the render subpatch option. However, it is not giving me the varied subdivision levels based on the image I am looking for. I just get a uniform subdivision. I don't want to use a weight map, just an image.

How do I get varied subdivision levels based on an image texture?

Secondly, how can I export the object afterwards as frozen geometry?

The 'render subpatch' option only seems to subdivide at render times. I know that that is implied in the whole title of the function but I thought that if I used 'save trans object' that it would somehow allow a frozen version to work with.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Revanto :p

I checked out DPkit and I couldn't find "Freeze APS" only "Save APS". Maybe it's my version of of LW. I only have 9.6.
I did experiment last night and I converted an image to a weightmap. That worked in regards to giving me a varied render subpatch but I don't understand why I can't do this with a regular image and no weightmap.
