I can't help wondering if we could soon forget about rendering completely. Right now it takes a long time to set up a scene like this, but that could change.

I've been saying for years that real-time rendering should be the norm -- we have the gpu's that can handle it, cpu's have never been better, etc., but for some reason we're still stuck with a render button. Maybe when I'm 90 3D software will finally catch up to what game engines are doing. Yeah, yeah, I know game engines use low poly models and the textures are baked at 2k. It still looks really good to me.
