Anyone check out the recent short film released? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNP5FTn-73A

Rendered in real time using Unity. Ridiculous.

pretty sweet....some little issues, like aliasing and flickering when opening his hand in the opening shots....but great looking nonetheless

3d apps like LW should take note.....a lot of times this quality is all that is needed. A good game engine based openGL render engine may be the wave of the future.....especially with all the VR nowdays.

The big push in 3d apps is for unbiased and physically based....but these game engines are approaching render quality of 5 years ago state of the art....all at real time

With Vulkan APK now released, I'm hoping that LW3D Group is gutting the old OpenGL standard and leaping lightyears ahead by embracing Vulkan technology for GPU utilization & rendering.

My mind is fried from so many scenes, projects, blogs, and forums.......I'm getting old...(42) , but didn't Newtek, or LW group hire someone who used to work with NVidia? I feel like I already asked this... lol. Like I said... I'm getting old. Don't confuse I'm getting too old for this SH*T

You're not old! I'm 44!

Shhh!! We're still young enough to create, be innovative, and we just might catch LEV! ;)

Let's get old!

People will be using more and more realtime rendering in their projects. The new lightwave next renderer is looking dated with the work being done in unity and unreal.

And now toolbag supports animation.

You are only as old as you make yourself ;) Look at Stan Lee.

Calling it "realtime" is rubbish, it's impressive but it's no realtime, the camera movement is fixed, most lighting is prebaked and they use a gazzillion number of tricks to get it rendering, it's still impressive but most of it is pre processed in some way.

And comparing it with a "real" renderer that actually render everything is useless.

The silly part is that it does not even showcase anything that is actually good for the users of Unity (for game development)

It's good for cutscenes ;) But jokes aside... the fact that they are capable of doing tricks to make it look that good, is still interesting because it means game level isn't too far behind. Let alone 5 years from now.

if you want to see some really impressive real time cgi solutions, take a look at this, not 3D but still impresive
