View Full Version : FReq: Nodes: Weight Map Node

I think it wouild be useful if the weight map node displayed on its FACE the name of the weight map it was directed at, or at least the text that would fit.

Nodes expand horizontally to accommodate their user-applied names, so it would seem that "variable width node containers" already have the required code in place.

The above is the easy, doable one.
More basically, it seems silly that there is a dialog for switching wmaps, when it would be more direct to chose the map right on the node. I realize this would require a lot of under the hood alterations. But this 1980s call-and-response dialog b.s. needs to be killed with fire.

You remember that user can click rename, and specify name by himself?

Why should users have to go thru that labor? And that's not even the same thing, since the w.map could change but the node name would not.

For that matter, the whole renaming thing is bullsh!t, in that there's no global facility to see the NATIVE name of a node once it's user-named without deleting the name. That's crap. There SHOULD be a key to hold down to toggle between native and user names.

For one thing, if you screw up and specify the wrong w.map you are FORCED to open the node to see what it's pointing at. It's totally lame.
