Most of you guys and gals may have seen this but just watched a trailer/making of Doom 3 and every screen when not showing the game engine was Lightwave. :D

Just some amazing work on this lighting and environment were just awsum! Any of you guys working on this visit here, hats off people if I get 50 % of the detail you show in this I'd be a very happy man

And of course some VERY cool monsters!

Ok guys the avi (it looked like a avi file) is Called "Doom3 Legacy" and my brother followed it through a link on "File Planet" sorry there is no direct link I can give you all be he says is File Planet links to all sort of servers.
I think from what I can imagine there is a trailers section at File Planet so is should be on there.
Not a member myself so cannot check this for you though.
It is basically a chat with the production staff they show you some game play from the orginal :) then move on to whats coming next :D
They chat to the guy at the top and the modelers, designers and animators showing you loads of screen shots from the game and while there working in Lightwave very coooool. BTW Some really nice looking textureing work I mean really nice :D

I'll have a look around for a direct link maybe if Proton could have a chat to them (very lucky guy!) he may be able to give a direct link?

Oh man.. just watched the E3 Trailer and this looks incredible! :) So they used LW for all the ingame stuff, do they use LW for the cinematics as well?

I just read the following on the NeHe Website:

AWESOME 3D EDITORSieFeye sent in the following news:

Visit http://www.blender3d.org... Doom 3 uses maya and blender3D for all the modeling. Along with another program called ORE (Open Render Bump) sorry no link. You can download a full non trial version for free!!! Great stuff.

Should I send them a correction?
Was Maya and Blender used for all the modelling?

12-11-2003, 06:17 PM
LW was used 100% for modeling.....no doubt....the file format for all teh assets in Doom 3 is LWO

According to the video it seems Maya was used for animation. By the way, nice monitors the have at id! 16:9 rules! :) Did anyone notice the buttons in Modeler's title bar? Apparently they customized it a bit. Probably shortcuts to frequently used inhouse gamedev tools.

Where is the making of video?

Look out for the files containing the word "legacy", they're from May 23rd ... which proves id is not only a bunch of satanists, but also they are illuminati :)
