I just rewatched Avatar in 4K (upscaded from a 1080p blue ray) and I have to say that the quality really stood up. Sure some things were very CG but over all it has stood the test of time very well.
Now to rewatch all the BSG episodes in "4K"(upscaped of course)

My new Ultra HD tv automatically upscales lower rez videos to near 4K, I am not sure what the proceess is but the picture quality is fantastic. Even broadcast cable tv signal is improved dramatically.

Then tell you I will.
It is a LG 55UF6800 Ultra HD TV, thanks to some really good Boxing Day Sales (Canada Eh) the price came in at $1000.00 so it is definitely not the most expensive TV on the block. Nothing changed in my signal path and it replaced a 1080p TV but the picture quality difference is truly amazing, either it's the new TV or my eyesight has started to improve by itself.

Is that one a 3D tv? 3D on 4k tv is incredible!

No 3D, I inherited a 60" 1080p TV but I just never seem to use the glasses that it came with. (The new 4k tv picture just blows that one out of the water)
I can only imagine how good 3D would be in 4k, probably completely immersive.

So what dvd player do you use?, or does the TV have a DVD player built in, I have seen a few TV's with built in dvd players..

Thanks mike

132170My dvd player is just a mid-range Sony (a couple of years old and not built in)

The included Youtube app (tv is wifi enabled) is great for watching pretty anything included Lightwave tutorials.
I am taking my wife to Italy this year (the big 3, Venice,Florence, and Rome) I must have watched 20 travel videos on Youtube and the quality of every one was great.
