Graph #3 is.... well, ouch.

Only ~800 people responded , and by that alone it lacks solid ground to make any kind of assumptions. I have yet to experience a single 3D workplace where the overwhelming majority runs anything other than Windows, and either Maya or 3DSMax (or both). :/ I would not read too much into those figures.

Yeah, my bad: it was self-selecting too, IIRC. I do think 2d workplaces skew more Mac though.

I gotta do some benchmarking here to see if I should upgrade: it seems CPUs aren't that much quicker.

It's also a motion site, so by default everyone says they're going to be using C4D. Whether they do or not.

@ synergy, I had a look a few months ago and it doesn't look like it's worth it. I read some people can actually make a profit from selling their used machines. Part of that is probably our underperforming Can dollar but still. Anyway, it seems CPU's haven't really increased in speed at all lately.

Thanks for that info. Really, I should be pleased -- not shelling out hardware bucks is Good.

Was that a hardware survey or a motiongraphics survey? :D
