ah- it may be proprietary, the article doesn't really talk about compatibility.

IMO, not enough parallel between the two test systems. Lots of noise in the data and also ripe for interoptimization to produce results that the opposing system is completely incapable of. That the software of both is open source and "uses the same techniques" isn't enough. The other thing that immediately bothers me is, why are the two renders of the robot sitting on the bench not remotely the same? Angle is way off, wood texture doesn't come close, nor does the wall. BTW, PowerVR chips are the basic chips used in Apple mobile products. Don't get them confused with the Wizard which uses it.

PowerVR has been around a while. The IP core is used in a bunch of things (including the iPhone and various other mobile devices) but they seem to be getting back into the desktop space. the manager of the PowerVR IP (and the system architect/chip design lead) is an old friend of mine. Martin is a very very smart guy.
