i found this video which may be of interest, it is from the molecule team and shows the development over time of their engine. i found it interesting to see the various ideas that were explored and and dropped, and what drove the direction their engine took.

In some way it provides and incite to what the LW group must be juggling in the development of 2016

In one sense being involved in 3d Graphics and animation over the years, has given a real in site to how the various engines develop over time and what is required to make amazing art work with those tools.

VR is pushing us back to a decade or two, faster cpu and memory can only get us so far. now instead of a frame with all the bells and whistles turned on being rendered overnight, we are looking for 90 frames per second per eye.
