Thanks for the reminder: I always forget that thing.

Thanks for the reminder: I always forget that thing.

I still find myself using the Drag tool over Tweak simply because in SubD mode you can grab the points directly and move them. Not sure why the Tweak tool can't do the same.

Good to know. :clicka clicka clicka: Hmmm, using TWEAK seems to turn Cage visibility on, so I do not see this as a real handicap. Considering the number of times I've lost the points inside a model in subd, quite the contrary.

I certainly wish you could, with modifier keys, ROTATE (and might as well add SCALE too) with the TWEAK tool-- that would be excellent. (TRANSLATE would require Selection first, a workflow killer.)

MORE WORK: oh, I see. Yeah.... that's a tough problem.

How in the world are you guys using this tool? :D

1) in SubD I can grab points directly.

2) It doesn't turn cages on (for me). In fact I wish it would. It would be a bit easier to grab the points that way.

Yeah, thanks for the reminder also. It works well for me, no cage issues in SubD mode.

Me too, I wish Drag worked on faces and edges, as well as having an adjustable size, Tweak is usable on meshes with a smooth contour but on organic meshes I find it ****ing useless.

Use one of the other tool modes and the cage comes on, if you can get it to work in SubD mode I'd love to know how, and by that we mean working off the SubD positions as Drag does, try the two on busier mesh with creases and folds, Tweak sucks arse on those.

Oh I see. It's as if the cages were visible vs clicking on the "visual" intersection.....
Have to admit Ive never used it on deep creases.

But if the mesh is amenable.... being able to grab edge/face/point is very convenient.

Guess I need to model more old people. :)

Ha, I'm not entirely sure what you just said :D But with Drag you grab the points where they are, not where they were on the base mesh, can't imagine anyone defending that sort of method for making point selections so I'm surprised to see it be fine for a tool such as this. If you have any character model at all, use Drag and tweak some points around, then use Tweak, I'd be very surprised to find you think it's six of one a half a dozen of the other. I find it crap even on a barely deformed box, it just gets that much worse on less basic meshes.

Tweak is infuriating.

The FAST PREVIEW mode is the "auto-cages" view. And I like seeing the cages if the points are going to be off the apparent surface.

Needs functions for "CTRL+DRAG" and "CTRL+SHFT+DRAG".

PickSurf!!!!! OMG, tie this to a hotkey and Surface Selection is revolutionized.

OnlineRender, please re-post this over to the "Basic Things You Should KNow" thread.
