Dear Friends:

I have been using lightwave for a few years, and intermediate level as a hobbyist.
One of my goals is to turn pro with lightwave/cgi animation.
I spent a long time following text and video tutorials.
I just decided to start spending my time working on (my first) 'short' animation.
I am going to spend as much time as I need to finish my first short.
I don't have the story ready, but will start working on it soon.
I have a question:
When i finish my short, how do I let people know my short is available for viewing ?
Where can I put the short online, to get exposure ?
Thank you very much !!!

YouTube, vimeo, enter it into festivals, post it on your website...

http://www.newgrounds.com is a good place for all kinds of animated content. If your stuff is good, entertaining or even just interesting/unusual it will be posted on the front page. Unlike YouTube/Vimeo, the ratings system encourages people to actually review and critique your material. Site content is curated in part by the people who visit the site.

Soooooo, what HAVE you got?

Here's a book that might help, it's Blender-centric, but 98.23% of the advice is applicable:

You could do worse than look at this guy's (Victor Navone) video tests on his character: he worked up from walk cycles to this short, and then on to PIXAR.

Finally, an appropriate use of a disco ball. :D

Just watched it through now, and it's STILL fabulous. The gestures and lip-sync, awesome. All done with a very early version of LW, IIRC. Can't imagine the labor involved.

To the OP: getting the above is not likely. Aspire to THIS first:

And remember: your tools are FAR better, so no whining.

Nice catch. http://www.navone.org/HTML/MakingAlienSong.htm

Look at those sketches though! Animators, that's why you might want to go to art school. Dang.

Huh, Animation: Master still exists, apparently. Eighty bucks, seems a bargain. I do remember the original manual was farkakte.

Possibly a viable alternative to Messiah???
