View Full Version : Modeling technique?? Remind me: dynamic duplication of meshes?

:stumped: Trying to remember how to do this simple thing:

You want to duplicate some item a given number of times, and you want to space them evenly, but you're not sure how far it'll be. This technique (which I disremember) allows you to stretch out the copies without distorting them to fill in the area required.

Now, how does that go again???

Tnx!

I'd use Clone with an X (or Z) offset. May take a couple of tries to get the exact spacing. LWCAD has an interactive tool for this.

Ahhh!, although not quite: I was trying to remember WEIGHT CLONE followed by MOVE: Weight Map.

Thanks for the memory jog.

(I find trying to adjust such things as CLONE and ARRAY distances incredibly painful and massively tedious. Fortunately WEIGHT CLONE and WEIGHT MAP falloff exist.)
(Probably not as slick as whatever Viktor came up with, but you should give it a whirl, it's pretty neat.)
