View Full Version : Questions about weight maps and using Genoma

I posted this in the LW - General techniques, tips and tricks side of the forum, but never got a response. It seems as though most just post in the LW - Community side of the forum.

Anyway,

1) It looks as though Genoma creates it's own weight maps based on the distance of the mesh to the bone, is this right? Is it good enough to just use it as is, or is it advised I go back and create my own weights?

2) If I go through and make my own weight maps on a character, how do I set maps with Left and Right when the map is symmetrical?
*For example, I selected the right hand and made it "Hand_L" and now I need the same selection of polygons for the right hand, but I can't seem to find a way to select the same polygons on the opposite coordinate. Basically mirror the weights.

3) For the fingers, is it best to make maps for each section of the finger or is it okay to just make maps for the entire finger? And it's kind of the same situation with the neck, and feet.
