Hello all, there's a way to avoid the terrible banding that appears when using the lw fog?

with some curve over exposure the problem is pretty visible

Using a fog solid color give a slighty better result (but the effect on the scene is totally different), with the "Use background color" + sunsky the banding is inevitable,
any trick to avoid this? Thank you very much

Are you rendering to a file format with more bit depth? Like exr?

Hi Ernpchan, i've thought about it and i've tried png 24 and 32, but with vignetting and curves the banding always pop at the eye, tonight i'll try with the openEXR_RGBFP type and i'll let know, meanwhile if you've some other advices they are very welcome, thank you.

I believe png24 and png32 are still 8 bit formats. 32 just has the alpha channel. You need a higher bit depth format like tif or exr.

yep you're totally right about the format :), i'll try .exr, i really hope it will fix this!

It worked! saving in exr almost solved (there's some banding but is almost imperceptible). I really didn't think about it, i thought was a radiosity issue..i was totally off road eheh. Thank you! :beerchug:

Did you try to enable / increase the*dithering options*in the post process effects window? This should reduce color banding.
