14 cameras scanning a performer becomes a streaming 3D asset inside Unity. LIVE.

What would you do with a live 3D asset in a 3D app?

Damn.....Everything is going to change.

Specialized training... joining in on brain surgery without being there.
"Movies" would be interesting.
At the low end - and what would probably drive it in the beginning - "being there" porn.

Neato! Just would need some space to utilize it. But man.. things are moving fast. Pricing isn't completely outrageous, is it? $995 Is that too much for this type of tech?

$995 for 14 HD cameras with an ability to mix them to generate a real time 3D scan polygonal/textured/animated mesh of whatever it is you're capturing, that can then be compressed in real time, streamed across the internet, and inserted into a 3D app of your choice on the other end?

I ... uh ... wha.... ?

They're selling Dev kits, not a finished product. It all seems completely over-the-top for animators, or even "hybrid-animators".

What really interests me is their Open Stage. It seems almost the same is iPi. Anyone ever try it? Is it better than iPi? Well, it certainly looks more comprehensive. I'd be wondering if one can use a bigger acting area than iPi's 7x7 meter limit.
