View Full Version : Audio cap limited

We're on a fiber connection with 100 Mbit up/down. Caller is on 50/50 Mbit, so bandwidth is not an issue.

It seems Skype TX (or Skype desktop client?) limits the Audio Cap (bandwidth) to 56 kbps no matter what.

I'm trying to figure out a way to get higher fidelity audio. Looking to do 96 or 128 kbit audio on the Skype calls. Is there any way to do this?

I seem to remember reading a way to hack an XML settings file a couple years ago to accomplish something like this, but haven't poked around much to see.

Thanks!

No way to bump up the audio bitrate for higher quality audio?

I'm not sure exactly what the bit rate for the audio is, but Skype does the highest that is possible for your connection (up to its max), you cannot 'force' it to use particular settings.

The problem is that it maxes out at 56kbps, no matter what the connection speed (100mbit fiber here). So 56kbps is the max it does for audio, which doesn't sound great for pro broadcast.
