When I apply Lightwave native instancing to any polygon that has more than 4 points I need to triple it in order for instances to show up on it. This can be a huge pain especially if I have to go back and merge tripled faces for editing purposes. Is there any trick or way I can get instances to show up on Ngons without having to triple them?

Only if you use "surface" mode. For polygon mode it works on N-gons also.

But true it would be good to work in surface model also with N-gons.
Although LW is not really that good with N-gons anyway so it often can lead to bad triangulation/glitches so if you can avoid them anyway.
