Letīs see if this will be a thread sober enough to simply describe the differences and likeness of the two tools operating on two different software.
So I hope it may avoid which one has the more value for money etc..and focus more on what differentiate these tools in functionality...guess it will not be so lucky on that though:D

So itīs metamesh from 3rd powers toolset..in comparison to meshfusion in modo...

I havenīt tested anyone of them, and it is best if those guys having tested both of them could give some insight on what the distinctive differences are.
or should I put this thread in the trashcan:D

MetaMesh is great on Medium / Big meshes

MetaFusion is great on Medium / Small meshes

Cinema4D has great Rounding Tools

LWcad has nice Rounding Tools (and he is working on something new there for release 5, afaik...)

Extra note, HeatShrink Plus from 3rd Powers could also be of use to make large smooth transitions
these shapes are often found in industrial models

Thanks for the link lightscape...but there is a need of a lightwave forum thread, so this one is handy :) how would you otherwise find it here :)
checking what they mention in the lux forum, it seems the impression is..that meshfusion is more suitable for cad or product design, where metamesh might be more suitable for organic stuff.

yes, pretty much, this is because meshfusion works better at a smaller scale, while metamesh works better at a larger scale.

in general, that is

both are great  http://erikalstad.com/backup/misc.php_files/smile.gif

yeah, and I would probably like to have both..for organic stuff, rocks and weird shapes..the metamesh for lightwave, and I would have to invest in modo as another software too...would like to invest in a 3d printer someday too so a bit of modo and meshfusion might be useful with that...But I reckon I would go for metamesh first since that is cheaper.

And see... now I couldnīt follow my own specified topic rule about money :)
I have no immediate need or use for any of them, except for that it of course would help both workflow and results for personal projects, but currently no need for it for anything else..unless it just pops up suddenly.

That's why I posted the link here. So users can read both meshfusion and metamesh users opinion.
They can find good information there through this thread :D

of course..I just whined a bit kinky about how you frazed it.."there is already a long discussion" which I somehow converted in my mind to a thread here in lw forums..so a fraze like..there is a thread over here., which would suggest a bit more that itīs not located in lw forums.:yoda:
but thanks, you should have, talk about complicating things...I do.

I donīt know what the new updates are like in metamesh, I think you could not merge several unconnected pieces in one go to another piece with metamesh?... while in mesh fusion you can?

Breaking my thread rules again...just noticed that there was a special 30% price discount on modo till friday the 21st, just noticed that now...so I missed upon that..and then modo with fusion now has gone way up high to 1799, that is just to much for me at the moment, and I guess I have to wait a year..or two in such case for new offerings.

unless I get a better income or a lottery ticket win.

Yeah..but have to wait and see what those booleans does...when the new lw cad comes, and of course it will probably have the nurbs tools as well.

Benefits of MeshFusion (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_d1ZeX1pSQ) w.r.t. procedural workflow, combining with deformers.
