View Full Version : Painting of rock textures in sculptris..and checkout in lightwave

just some fast showcase of painting in sculptris a different bump texture map on to a rock which has a completly different color texture.
rock object isnīt sculpted in any way in sculptris though, that I did with normal displacement in lightwave layout, then saved transformed..then metaformed in modeler with various subdiv methods, also facet subdiv to get sharper divisions, some poly reduction with merging of triangles..some minor point normal correction too, and also some surface smoothing correction so the rock isnīt too smooth.

saving out color texture and bump texture has to be done manually, but it exports out nicely with uv mapping, so itīs just a matter of setting them up in lightwave.

when I paint the texture in sculptris...I do not click and drag paint, that is not good..you have to click and sort of stencil paint, so no dragging of the mouse..just click paint in the areas you want.
two clips..one with the fast painting, and another one showcasing the texture look in lightwave and vpr.
so itīs not a full tutorial or something like that..just a simple showcase on how nicely it can work, I recommend folks to take a look in to the free sculptris program and check out the painting tools.

nice work ; i prefer blender because it preserve the uv map
