Hi all,
The nodal bloom is head and shoulders above image filter bloom. But, I can't get nodal bloom with node image filter to recognize the special buffer setting in the surface panel as the image filter bloom does. Is there a way to get the node image filter to only affect designated surfaces? In the attached pic I'd like the bloom to NOT affect the text surface. The regular old image filter bloom respects the special buffer settings but not the node image filter. Any ideas? Thanks.

First, there's a Mask input in the Bloom node,
for applying the effect only in the desired area of the image,

you are free to use the Special Buffer in the Image Filter node editor,
enable it in the main panel and use the Special output of the Render node,
or without any special surface setting,
use the Mask Surface node.

Denis.

Thank you so much for the response Denis. And thank you for all the tools you've given all of us over the years. :)
I'm still trying to wrap my head around nodes. I tried special in the render buffer. Should I connect that to the alpha of the bloom node or somewhere else?

..In the Mask input of the Bloom node.
I recommend the Mask Surface or the Mask Object node
if the 'text' is a separate object.
