I'm struggling with this model, it is a glass bottle and it goes from the base(a squarish shape) up to a cilindrical figure with odd edges , (see pic)

What i cant figure out is how to smoothly connect the square bottom to the cillindrical top, and weld it, all attempts were "certain death"

The Ikeda TOOLS are No Longer AVAILIBLE!!!!

NOw what do i do?

It says on his site that he sold them to newtek.???

Where can i get it , if it is now possible to get it

Try this tool:

Skin Tool (http://www.suture.net/tutorials/modeling/img/078.gif)

I would use that to get your basic shape, and then boolean in or smooth shift polygons around the neck of the bottle to get those weird edges...I don't think that trying to connect the base of the neck with a shape like that is going to get you satisfying results...of course, I'm only a n00b:p

CMP, you can see in my pics in the post above and here (http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13199) that this can still be easily achieved without Ikedas tools. It is simply a circle above a square that you could manually patch with 4 pt polys.

And you could always upgrade to Lightwave 8, then you'll have Ikeda's tools in a couple of weeks anyhow.

What I did was use Morphs:

Create a box and use the "Sharp Edges". Kill the polys and get rid of the points inside. Select the points in clock-wise (or anti-clockwise) and make a closed curve (cntr+o).

The make the neck of the bottle out of a 2 dimentional cylyder to have the same amount of points. Try to align the points to eachother by just rotating the cylynder.

Create a morph and start snaping points to the coresponding square.

Copy the cylynder into a new layer, leave this one alone for now.

Now take the previous one and activate the Airbrush tool. Open the numeric panel and change the Strenth to 100%, and Weigth value to 50%.

Now start patching the curves with polys. Of course I am using Ikeda tools, but you can get a similar one from Flay...

The Zip file has the completed object. Layer one is the finished object, layer two is the square curve and layer 3 is the disk curve.

I know there is a plug-in that spits out intermidiate morphs from two, but I can't think of it right now..
