View Full Version : reflection blur - and render times

Does having a reflection blur of around 10 or 15
significantly increase render times?

i usually use about 3 or 5.

but i upped it to 15 and my render was taking longer, but it could be something else.
so i'm wondering if anyone knows or did tests to see if there is any impact on scenes?

In older time when there was no unified sampling reflection blurring, and refraction blurring, had tremendous influence on render times.

Check also Recursion Limit in Render Globals.

Ray can be stuck in some transparent and also reflective surface f.e. if we have ball which is either one, ray goes to ball, then is reflected by internal surface, and bounces inside until reaching Recursion Limit.
