Is there a reccomended route to getting Screamernet up and running without tears. We have 5 processors available and the network is sound. We have created network drives and we can get the render started. The batch files all fire up. Unfortunately the rendered output vanishes... any ideas

Sounds like your render nodes can't see the drive to save the images to. I'll bet someone else has the exact answer for you.

I am about to set up a 4 CPU render network of my own. I tought I might pass along an idea I will probably use.

I am investigating a program called TequilaScream, but have not downloaded the trial version yet. It sounds like it will take most of the headaches out of setting up screamernet.

It is a retail ($149) front end for screamernet but it looks quite good!

There is a 14 day trial version for download.

Here is their web site:

Screamernet is hard, there's no denying it. However, most of the reason it's hard is because you have to have a good understanding of not only LightWave and the way it works, but also of networking. Have a look at the tutorial Matt Gorner wrote for us on Screamernet for the PC. If you have a Mac network, then the second link is to a superb tutorial on the same thing for OSX by the Worms of Art...
