Dear Friends:

Again, I am asking for your help.
I have one pc (pII450+256mRAM) with legit lw 5.6 and the dongle. I am vey happy with this.
I also have a second pc (1.6 ghz + 1 gig ram) with legit lightwave 9.6 and dongle. ALso happy with this pc.
Would it be possible (and legal) to install the lw 5.6 into the second computer, noting that it has a different
dongle in the pc ?

Yes. You'll have to transfer the dongle. The dongle prevents you running the program on more than one computer.

Do you actually use your Lightwave 5.6 version? I think I had a copy also since I have been using Lightwave since 1999. But the earliest version I can find is version 8 from 2004. I did find a copy of Swivel 3D from 1994 and Strata 3D from 1995 which were my earliest 3D apps.

I'm not sure if you can run them on the same machine or not.

Legally, yes, of course.

I think the issue that might pop up is that they may use different versions of the Sentinel drivers for the dongles. So, you might encounter a driver conflict.

I don't know this for a fact. Just an issue I had with software before that had conflicts.

As log as you have enough ports of whatever type the dongles may be (IIRC 5.6 used a parallel port version), all you would need is to have both the serials in the license.key files and they both should fire up; polling the dongle required.
