View Full Version : Exploding cars!

03-09-2015, 05:25 AM
I have an extensive collection of vehicles mainly cars. All free [.LWO] off the internet.
I wanted to see if any of my cars would break up using Bullit parts function.
Most cars failed to convert into parts and would get a critical error message.
But have now gone through all my cars and have about 40 cars that will
successfully convert to parts in Bullit.
Cars range from ordinary cars/sports cars/high end cars.

Would anybody be interested in aquiring this collection of explodable cars
as i can creat a zip file of the car folder?.
The problem is i know how to send a zip file as an attatchment in an email
but do not know how to post this zip file so its available to others to download
in a forum like this and i do not have a web site to provide a link.
Thanks for any info/interest in reply.
Regards. KEN.

Thanks for info.
Forgive my ignorance here but how do i access the Dropbox account?
Is this a feature within the forum or is it an uploading service outside of lightwave?

Thanks for comment.
Yes it took about 3 weeks [off and on].
Originally just wanted to create a scene were a car crashes and breaks up at a
race track. So tried a few of my cars in Bullit but had trouble remembering
which cars would convert to parts in Bullit and which would not and decided to
test all my cars. I now have a folder with Bullit proof cars [so to speak!]
Will post these as soon as.

Just be aware there are several like this that allow free storage. Mega NZ does as well and its 50 GB, i dont know what the size of your files total is.

Just join, download the APP and install, then upload your files to DBox its pretty simple.

You know, i was trying to destroy a car with bullet, and ran into this problem.
as soon as i used a force to flip the car, all the parts would immediately start flying away in an unrealistic way, in fact,
is there a way to say keep your tire attached to the model until your ready to make it leave the model?

Bullet is very clumsy for what is on and what is off - the only way i could figure is to run bullet on a super simple shape of the car to get the flipping and then parent the original afterwards back onto the simple geometry.

its a much faster solve that way - so i was attacking it by doing a separate bullet dynamic for each piece.

heres the flip

Hi again JohnMarchant
Thanks for further info. Will look into what you suggest.
Have up to now downloaded/istalled/signed into drop box.
Still reading the how to info.
When i feel confident enough and decide what to include in the zip file
ill post a link in a seperate thread.
You also pointed out/reminded me that Bullit in Lightwave 2015 is different
than for the Lightwave 11 series. So not shore wether my cars will convert to
Bullit/parts in eirlier versions than 2015.
Anyway look out for my next post some time over the next week.
Bye for now.
Regards. KEN.
