Can any of you MotionBuilder/Weight Map/Rigging Folks help me out? I just got Motion Builder a couple of weeks ago and have not had a lot of time to master all the ins and outs yet... Right now, I'm playing around with a simple Poser 3 figure to just get the basics and figure out enough that I can start using other models in the future. Rule number 1 is to weight map all points to 100%... I did that, but now I'm having trouble trying to figure out exactly where to set the shoulder bone weight maps in order to get them to work right in the transfer from Layout to Motionbuilder and back... Most of the rest of the figure is looks sort of ok, feet had a little trouble in that the leg rolls were out of sync with the feet since I had too many points dedicated to legroll until last night... got that a little better, but this shoulder thing is still perplexing me... What exactly makes up a LeftShoulder or Right Shoulder in Motionbuilder -Is it the Deltoid Infraspinatus Tres Minor and Trapezius or only one of those of fewer or what? Here's some scren prints so you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about... (see the whole in the arm pit area)

Your weight maps are quite sharp. I would soften up the edges of the maps to improve the fall off between each section. Also you should overlap the maps with fall off to improve the blending between maps.

Lastly it looks like the shoulder bone is going inside the arm. The shoulder bone should just be used to locate the pivot point for the arms. Move it back to where the should joint should be.

I have same problem, what I did is overlep maps 25%map1-75%map2, 50%map1-50%map2, 75%map1-25%map2. this may help if you do it right.
Can you tell me where I can get model you are using. If I can get it for Lightwave.

but it was too big... oh well... now I uploaded it as a free download on turbosquid for you to download... I have not had time to fix the weight map, and am uploading it as is so that it's a training tool so that others can learn from my mistake of making the jump from zero to one hundred percent too fast in a small area... :) ;) http://www.turbosquid.com/HTMLClient/FullPreview/FullPreview.cfm?ID=219144&Action=FullPreview
