Sorry if this has been asked somewhere but I can't find any..

I'm trying to use cyclist for a light, but since cyclist has no option for light, I have tried several option ( lightwave 2015.1 ):
1. using its Y scale, feed it to its intensity then feed it to cycler Null - no working
2. follow a null's Y axis, while null is working fine using cyclist, but light intensity won't follow null's Y axis ( using graph editor's channel follower ) - no working
3. using expression from null's Y axis to feed light intensity - no working

can't think another way...
is this a bug or I really don't have option to use cyclist with light intensity?

thanks in advance,

There was a tutorial by Cageman somewhere, and in it he would control the intensity of many lights (and colour?) with a single null...
but I can't locate it.
It is out there.

too bad I can't find cageman's tutorial also :( thanks for pointing it out...
anyone can help?

thanks

Use the cyclist modifier in the graph editor.

Thanks RebelHill..
I forgot to mentioned that I have use cycler modifier also, but strangely it only cycle once...
I'm not sure why....

this is my simple test..

You can animate your "cycle" controler between values 0 and 1, using time to control the cycles. Then you can use the Graph Editor usual Repeat/Oscilate functions.

Do you want to turn on light for f.e. 1 second, then turn it off for another 1 second, and then repeat cycle?
If so, edit intensity envelope in Graph Editor, using Stepped interpolation,
when other light has to be turned on when 1st is off, copy and paste envelope, and then shift time 1s.

Or maybe it was not Cageman, but mine?

2 years ago made these video tutorials:

If you will copy'n'paste envelope from one light to another (or duplicate item), one null will drive them all.
You can do some math operation on value prior feeding intensity f.e. sinus, fading to 0 sinus, modulo (sawfish signal)

Thanks VirtualFM...I think that will solve my problem.
What I want to do is creating cycle for car engine sparkplug. I'm visualizing how engine work, I have rigged all pistons, valve, crankshaft and camshaft using cyclist to a null, so if I animate the cycler null along +X axis, all parts will move accordingly..I can speed up and speed down easily, but cyclist doesn't has access to light intensity so I have a problem using the rig..
Now I can now simply link it to master cycler...whew why didn't I think it before? Thank you very much!
