so.... I'm trying to get endpmorphs to save out as blendshapes in fbx export (LW-11.6.3)

Is the fbx exporter totally broken in this regard or is it a more tricky setup than just animating morphs in your morph-mixer, then export the sucker while making sure that morphs are checked in the export settings dialog?

FBX export should turn your morphs into blendshapes without any problems. Just tick the boxes.
Very dependable in The latest versions of LW.
Is there a problem at the Maya end?
