I would love to be able to see how much record time is available on a HDD after selecting a recording codec. Some of the stuff we do (College Graduations) we have multiple 2+ hour events in one day. When stopping one and starting the next it would be nice to know how much time is left on the drive.

Just as a thought, and not that it tells you the time remaining, but if memory serves the drive details shown in the Record Config panel do tell you how much unused capacity is left on a volume.

It says capacity, but not remaining time. Being new to this one I have no idea how much capacity a QT 4:2:2 file takes per min, or a HQ h.264 per min. Is there a list somewhere that would have that info? Coming from the tricaster broadcast it gave remaining record time in 00:00:00. For the type of stuff we do it would be useful to know. I think I might just let it record for an hour in a couple of the formats and just see how much space they take up.

1 hour of QT 4:2:2 could use up to 45GB. The codecs are VBR, so the content of the video will make a difference the realized compression ratio. The H.264 HQ recording will probably be around 3.5GB per hour.

Awesome! Thank you for the info. That will help!

The last time I checked, 4:2:2 QuickTime recording would roughly fill a terrabyte in about 25 hours.
