Since the 330 is long since out of any warranty, is the a way to add larger drives and or external esata drives?
Thanks
Sharyn

It can be done but it is definitely not recommended. The 330 is a fickle beast. IF it is working well then leave a sleeping dog lie.

I guess then the best way forward is to just copy over to an external USB drive.
What is the best way to copy over the three individual input feeds for editing with Sony Vegas?

That would be the most common workflow with the 330 platform.

You should export the 3 streams since they are muxed together in one MPEG wrapper. Once exported you can just copy to the external drive.

Hi Jef
Is there a way to demux the 3 streams or is that what the export function does? Does it make a difference if the output on the 330 is set to three vs one? Is it better to use an external esata drive? is there a size limit based pn how the bios was configured when Newtek set the machine up limiting the driver size to 2 terabytes? Since the 330 does not support file import, and the only way to get files on the syistem is by recording, does this mean that if a recording was made it can only be used and played back along with the other two feeds ? ie you cannot record a feed and then use it at a totally different place time wise with respect to the other feeds?

KP> Yes, the three MPEG files are in a recorded into a single file on the 330, the export function extracting them into three seperate MPEG-2 fiels.

KP> No.

Is it better to use an external esata drive?
KP> Yes, it will be much faster than USB2.

KP> Not really on the 330 itself. Its running Vista 64-bit which works around the 2TB limit. But you need to make sure the other machine you would bring the drive too can access a 2+TB drive as well.

KP> Yes, it is this way on the 330. Newer 3PLAY systems (425 and higher) support independent playback (and file import) and it would not be an issue on these systems.

Note that drives should be NTSF formatted.
