Saw this on Facebook.I don't like this kind of sales but it is tempting.

"Download key will be emailed when the sales goal has been met.
If the sales goal is not reached by Dec 19 2014, ALL ORDERS WILL BE REFUNDED IN FULL."

http://my3dtools.net/

I looked around on the forum but didn't saw this mentioned.
The models are in Lightwave format.

By the way , i wasn't aware before, there is a free to download model to see and test.

http://my3dtools.net/free.html

The model looks nice.

Already signed up and for that price its a steal. Not convinced they will make it though. I signed up about 2 weeks ago and its not moved much although many others say they have signed up as well. Mind you i dont know what their goal was.

Yes the price is really great but i have the same fear. Curious what will happen.

Blimey, that's not bad is it. Well it's not like software where you have to worry about a promotion then development falling away, if it succeeds and you get the models, it's all good.

I'm not on social media though, so I don't really have many outlets to spread this promotion.

I'll take a punt though.

$34.95 instead of almost $1500? Was this pmG's idea?

I could do with at least one of those models, even just to render out some sprite graphics, 35 bucks for that and 49 others seemed like a good deal but I'll admit I've not bought models before, though I've always had much more time before. Anyone got any links to a similar modelling packs? Because even valuing them at $30 a piece isn't seeming ridiculously outlandish from my search abilities, much less $0.69.

I'll bite. The freebie needs a little set up in 2015 (in layout) but looks awesome...

Yeah, it's quite decent isn't it, here's the image from their site:

Ha, I see they have one listed and the Men In Black Dragonfly, that the actual one? That'd be pretty cool:

Bought it also, I hope it goes through, but I think if it's close enough, they'd probably just go through with it for all who took the deal to save on paypal fees.

Can anyone vouch for this website(?)
What would prevent them from just taking the money and running?
It doesn't appear to be covered by PayPal Purchase Protection, so they could in theory just take the $$$

PayPal Purchase Protection.

With PayPal, youíre protected from checkout to delivery. We spot problems before they happen with the latest anti-fraud technology. Your financial info is never given away to sellers. And if something goes wrong with your order, your eligible transactions will be fully reimbursed.

Purchase Protection covers all your online purchases, on eBay or on any other website, when you use PayPal. It also covers you when you make a payment on our website. You must open a dispute within 180 days of your purchase or payment to initiate the Purchase Protection process. Finally, your account must be in good standing with us to get Purchase Protection.

Purchase Protection does not cover certain kinds of purchases. These include: digital goods (intangible items), services, real estate, motorized vehicles (of any kind), custom made items, travel tickets, industrial machinery (for manufacturing), prepaid cards, or items that violate our policies or eBayís policies (stuff thatís usually prohibited by law anyway). Purchase Protection also does not cover items that you purchase in person, or money you send to friends and family.

I put it on my credit card, not PayPal. If they renege, I just stop payment. Hard for me to believe, though.

Maybe it's good and maybe it's not. But I've always been taught if it sounds too good to be true... So I did a Whois look up for that URL and found it to be owned by 1 & 1 internet inc. then I did a search on that company and found some bad indicators http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/1-1-internet-inc-chesterbrook-pennsylvania-c161434.html

Maybe this isn't the same company. And I hope you all get the models ordered. I didn't do extensive research on this so maybe they aren't the same companies. Oh, their site was just brought up this September.

Actually it looks like 1 & 1 is the hosting site. And the registra of the site is private. So the article linked above is directed more towards the hosting site. Sorry for the scare.

I tend to be a bit cavalier when it comes to this sort of thing, for years I keep saying I'll get a credit card and stop relying on debit simply for the protection, but never do. Hope not to get burned, it shall certainly be a catalyst if I do, but we shall see.

All seemed a bit dodgy to me tbh.

The fact that they didn't state what the goal number actually was makes me think they never intended it to be hit.

They have just had a nice bunch of totally free publicity and increased traffic to their website.

Tzan

This seems so stupid.
The models are already made, what difference does it make if 50 or 100 people buy them.
So now they get nothing.

If genuine, I think this perception is what scuppered it, if dodgy, I'm surprised they didn't list them for sale at all.

it seems we did not reach the goal. Am I wrong or does it not cost a seller money to complete a sale or return through paypal? Im am thinking this event was someone trying to prove a point or make a statement. It was a good deal.

Lito
12-20-2014, 12:53 PM
Disappointing. Though I am actually surprised, I thought they got charged a fee to receive or return back money on Paypal, so I would think they actually lost money on this "deal". That's why earlier I thought as long as it was close it would go through.

Davewriter

It may have cost some doing the return through PayPal... but he's now got a pretty nice list user... follower... people willing to spend money. Something that big time marketing places spend tons of money to get.

Im in but still confusing is it 48 or 50 models. If the former what got dropped and why.

Lito
01-14-2015, 08:16 AM
Hmm so they got less than ~257 orders at the higher price last time (I estimate 206 IIRC it got to ~ 80%). So they dropped it by $5 and think they'll be able to get ~94 more orders? This looks to be with no cutoff so till they get 300 your money sits with them. If they never hit 300 you essentially give them $30 for free. I don't know if I am willing to buy it with those terms personally. Price is tempting for what is offered but if you never get it then what's the point. The previous offer was more consumer friendly at least you knew you would either get the models by this date or you'd get your money back.

They say you can cancel at any time if it takes too long, so I don't see any risk here. Looks like they basically reduced the price and removed the end date to make the thing more likely to close.

I signed up for the last deal (refunded as promised), but I'm going to pass on this. Seems like a really poor marketing / sales strategy. They had (reportedly) 257 buyers at the $35 price, which was $8995. Now they're looking for 300 at $30, which is $9000. Should have taken the money while they had the chance.

How about just lowering the regular price? If the regular price was $35, they'd already have their goal of $9K.

Signed up a again, as well.

The whole deal is kind of squirrelly, but $30 bucks to save time on not having to build one or two of these models is still worth it. Hope it goes through this time.

The list of included models is 50 items long, so there should be 50 models.

You would think so. However if you read the whole page on at least 2 occasions it says quite clearly 48 Models its only just under the price that it says 50 models. So my question still stands, is it 48 or 50 and if 48 which ones got dropped.

The reason for being pedantic is because i know of at least 2 people who are buying into this just for one model and i would hate for them and me to be disappointed that it was that model that got dropped.
