Hi guys,
Is it possible to apply a vertex normal map from an object to a different one?
Thanks

If the you are talking images instead of vmaps, yes. Though the UV's for the other model have to be laid out in the same fashion as the original. If you are talking about baking a model with a vertex normal map to another then yes. Easiest was is to use the plugin for modeler from here: http://www.blytools.com/baker.html. Now if we are taking vertex normals in a vmap there is no way currently in Modeler to do that.

Hopefully this helps,

Both objects could have the same uvīs, as both are copies of the same object, one in hi res and the other in low res. Then I am interested in applying the vertex normal map from the hi res to the low res and checking if this can improove the low res. I have already baked the color maps and normal maps from hi to low but I am also interested in using the vertex color map to simulate the hires smoothing angle over the low one... I have also baked the hires vertex normal map into the low res but the idea it is reading the hi res one and no the low one. Hope it is clear enought :)
Thanks

You can import/export vertex map using TrueArt's Modeling Pack tool VMapManager.
http://www2.trueart.pl/?URIType=Directory&URI=Products/Plug-Ins/VMapManager
and VMapProcessor.
