View Full Version : Caustics in Lightwave

I am looking for a simple and fast way to create caustics in the same way the attached images show.

Not looking for expensive third party solutions or advanced walk arounds to reach something that most 3D packages have in their core today!

Just a simple way to let light shine through a transparent object and reflect this objects color on wherever the reflection or shadow ends up!

Activate caustics in the light panel not sure it works for distant lights. Then go to global illumination tab and activate caustics, adjust the settings and render.

there is the $30 OGO and the free Nitisara, they are both for 32bit only though...

for a simple and fast i suppose OGO is good and Octane is the absolute best.

but in LightWave it will take longer, but honestly i was a bit surprised when testing it today,
it seems that LightWave Caustics is better than before, and faster, not sure if that is because of my new CPU.

They did something at 11.5 or 11.6 don't remember. Before highest setting was 10000 now you can go over 100000 but it eats memory as hell.
