back in the days, there was a LightWave render made based on Neill Blomkamp's request
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WVQ3yxR_xQ

based on this idea, Blomkamp has now made a movie... not with LW though :°

another robo getting all emotional...:) maybe not unique as a script, but rather how the story unfolds that will be interesting, even though the theme seem to have been covered, it still relates to us all, growing up and learning.

So even though itīs another robo movie, I still enjoy the AI theme and I am always fascinated by it.
I robot, AI, the bicentennial man etc...letīs bring on some more:)

I still havent bought my own puppy robot, I reckon when a good catobot comes out with fur, warmth and purring I will probably get me one...or a Nice lady with equal properties.

It looks interesting, I just watched the other short featuring the original robot design, called temp bot, it has a cameo by Linda Carter, I liked it a lot. There are a couple of other really good (judging by the trailers) robot movies due out at the moment, so this one will be competing with those. Good luck.

Yes we know, we have all been part of the Beta testing and you are almost ready for commercial release.

Neill's LightWave robot short was called Tetra Vaal (here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTnxP7e7-YA) and it's not motion capture tests as shown in the text below the vid.

TETRA VAAL | 2003 | 1:20 Director/Editor/DP/FX: Neill Blomkamp
Tetra Vaal is a spec commercial/corporate video created to put forth the idea of a robotic system of control that can function on its own, and make simple decisions. Shot in Johannesburg, South Africa, the eerie piece is designed to suggest the near future. Footage shot in Johannesburg using a Canon GL1 and edited using Adobe Premiere. All visual effects were created using LightWave 3D and Photoshop and composited in Combustion.
----------------

The spec film that showed off Blomkamp's combined talents was 2003's Tetra Vaal. "I came up with this weird, documentarian, messed-up piece that took place in South Africa," he says of the Robocop-like short. Shooting in poverty-stricken Soweto in Johannesburg and Khayelitsha in Cape Town, Blomkamp created his character in CG and used motion capture and Rotoscope animation to insert the gun-toting robot into the realistic setting. Tetra Vaal startled and disturbed audiences at RESFEST that year, but Blomkamp denies any political intent. "Up until that point my visual effects [were about] making manmade objects that either existed in a place where they were not filmed or [were] breaking apart in a place where you couldn't break apart a real one. And so it was the first time I had done a character."
