Today is the last day for our October sale that includes all of our training content and commercial plugins and the promo code for that of course is "spooky" for a 25% discount. However... to wrap up this year's Halloween, I thought it'd be fun to do something a little different. This store coupon below:

goeasyonthatcandy

Will save you 35% off your entire order. Here's the catch; this coupon is only valid for the first 10 people who use it. I have some recommendations on where you could use this:

- Ryan Roye's Everything Bundle (http://www.liberty3d.com/2014/10/ryan-royes-everything-bundle/) or Animation Kit (http://www.liberty3d.com/2014/06/ryans-animation-kit/) - My stuff. I'm a little biased so you judge the quality of the content :)
- Tom Roth's Course on Character Animation (http://www.liberty3d.com/2014/02/liberty3d-welcomes-legendary-character-animator-tom-roth/). I cannot recommend this courseware highly enough for people getting into 3d animation as it covers a lot of the "skill-based" stuff like anticipation, stylization, timing, etc.
- The Pixel/Mechanical displays bundle (http://www.liberty3d.com/citizens/d-w-burman/danas-videos/) from DW Burman (for you mograph geeks out there). Video Previews: Mechanical Displays (http://youtu.be/PHd7Vk_GEnc), Pixel Displays (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UV-ON_Ox5E)
- Kat's Disco In-fur-no Turbulence for LightWave3D Bundle: (http://www.liberty3d.com/citizens/kelly-kat-myers/kats-videos/) Extensive coverage on the TurbulenceFD plugin for high quality fluid-based dynamics.
- Secrets of Subdivision Modeling (http://www.liberty3d.com/2013/03/secrets-of-subd-modeling-volume-1/) by Chilton Webb. I consider this the most valuable modeling tutorial content available in L3D's entire library.

There are lots of other great products in the store so have a look around if the above doesn't catch your eye and good luck! First 10 people to redeem the code get the 35% discount (TREAT)! The slow-pokes will simply receive an error message saying the coupon can no longer be used (TRICK!)

Hope everyone had a fun and safe halloween, and go easy on the candy... my god that stuff is so bad for you! Seriously, here's how many sugar cubes are in a snicker's bar. Makes you wonder how they can fit the chocolate and other stuff in there.

yay. By the way at this time there's only 4 uses for the goeasyonthatcandy code left. They'll definitely be gone by tomorrow :)

I took advantage of this deal and picked up the Cage and Lattice videos. The quick tute on Assign Tools was worth the cost of the vids alone! RR: there's a mention of 11.7 (and greater); wink if you know something about 11.7 :)

wesley, Q: did you pick up the video BEFORE the plugins? I know that seems crazy, but it might make sense to let users know what's possible.

Any of those 10 slots left? I was saving my pennies, but....

The mention is more of a prediction in case the tab cfg file doesn't work, as they are directly mentioned in the video. There's always the possibility that custom menu config files won't work between versions of Lightwave (the devs re-name the tools, do re-organization of the files under the hood, etc).

There is exactly 1 coupon left as of this post.

So what I learned from Liberty3d is- when they bother having a promotion of any kind, wait for the very last day of the promotion & save even more money.
Makes me regret/resent even buying training through Liberty3d :tsktsk:

Heh, maybe sometime spring next year I'll do the "10 Lucky People" bit at the very beginning of the sale instead then. I feel the little experiment did well and we may choose to do this exclusively through the newsletter, or switch things up a bit... it just depends on what's fun and interesting to Liberty3d.com's viewer base.

Shoot, couldn't get home in time.

I agree w/chazriker: it was fun!!! I never resent anything from Liberty3d, and am very happy to contribute in my small way to the furtherance of LW animators, uhhhh, eating.

This is a bit harsh. :screwy:
The training Liberty 3D produce is top notch, and there are numerous discounts throughout the year.
This is the first time an 'additional' discount has been offered, the fact you can make any saving is great (on already cheap products).

Agreed. No company is perfect, but Liberty3D does a very good job and providing outstanding LW tutorials is always a plus.

Smacks of sour grapes IMO.

I should take this opportunity to mention that we would love to talk to people interested in creating commercial content (plugins, tutorials or otherwise) to keep the supply of new tutorials/plugins fresh and innovative. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to clone myself yet so my maximum output is limited.

There are areas of instruction I feel could use a little more love in Liberty3d.com:

- In-depth compositing workflows that cover just about everything a LW user needs to know. It should cover the workflow with AND without a compositing software package.

- Creating visual effects. DW Burman's videos are a good start; I'd like to see more of it covering more diverse subjects.

- In-depth coverage of the entire workflow revolving around Hypervoxels. My weaponsFX tutorial focuses more on rigging... it would make a great synergy product with a hypervoxels-centric tutorial.

- Up to date node-surfacing and in-Lightwave texturing tutorials. Some of the ones on L3D now are from LW 9.6 and earlier and don't benefit from features like VPR that would make instruction faster and easier.

- 3rd party plugin coverage. This is something I myself am working on (syflex is next), but we could really use help for plugins like Octane, LWCAD, DPKit (if someone decides to cover this, please compensate Dennis for his fine work!), etc etc. I'm an animator, so I'd really prefer someone who focuses in modeling and design work to tackle the 3rd party plugins that relate to those topics.

- Software interchange workflows (Lightwave >> Modo >> Blender >> Maya >> etc etc.).

- whatever else people could think of...

Just some food for thought! If anyone would like to monetize on all the stuff they've learned and can produce professional presentations that educate users on workflows and trade secrets that can take them to the next level, just let me know and we'll talk.

I would like to see a "Comprehensive Guide" to DP plugs. X amount could go to Denis.

did you pick up the video BEFORE the plugins?

I have had the plugs for awhile, but have not really put them through their paces (except for Heat Shrink Plus and MetaMesh).

Second on that-- for those such as miserable, lowly, clueless ME, the DP dox are a bit minimal. I'm always floored by what people manage to do with them.

Watching the dmind wannawant advert recently posted reminded of the mocap/ikboost video that they did (amongst other things). These guys do excellent work; it would be interesting to get an in-depth look at their workflow.
