Good or bad?

I have a different angle than most people in here. I have never used any Autodesk products. The reason has always been the "Australia Tax". That is, you US people pay 3000 dollars approx for Maya, Max etc. Us Antipodean people pay 6000 bucks. That is not a joke. I have even put a VPN onto a US node and the price becomes your price. Still worse, Autodesk have the absolute hide to mark your price of 3000 dollars as being the SRP [ standard retail price].

So under a subscription system what happens to the Australia tax??? That is the 64000 dollar question. Or to be more accurate, the 6000 dollar question. Would I buy Maya as a rental product? Probably not. My philosophy throughout these forums has been that I do not have the moral right to put a client in a position where my tools could vanish. That's my ethics. That's me. I know that it's not other people's ethics.

At least I have ethics. Autodesk have none. I am too cynical to expect that subscriptions will end the Australia tax.
