Has anyone developed a workflow for getting LW animations into XCode for use in IOS games and apps?

Do you mean 3d animation or 2d animation?

If 3d animation, you can write LWO importer in iOS, or OBJ importer.
Then exporter of keys in LWSDK, and importer of keys in iOS.

If 2d animation, you can write iOS video file player.

XCode for iOS is similar to normal XCode for iMac?

3D animations -- the actual geometry moved over so it can be rendered with openGL by the game engine.

The only way is to write our own port plugins?

Use Unity.

If you don't want to use Unity, then I think there's an example project in the iOS sample code section at Apple's website where it uses an obj file.
You could modify that.

Some of the new Metal files on iOS would be another good place to start.

But seriously, you'll be better off using a 3rd party engine like Unity or Unreal.
