Problem Description and Steps to Verify/Reproduce

-Problem Description

This article describes how to re-seat the input/output card (more commonly referred to as “VT Card” or “HD Card”) in the TriCaster XD300.

-Specific Symptoms

No Video Input and/or Output
Distorted Audio Input and/or Output
TriCaster Live Production software does not launch

Steps to Fix/Workaround

If the unit is currently running,go ahead and shutdown the Tricaster. You will also need a Phillips Head Screwdriver.


Once the unit is off disconnect the power cable from the back. To ensure any residual power is drained from the machine touch the 3 prongs inside the power supply where the power cable attaches. Now you will need to remove the TriCaster case, to do this you will find 3 screws along the outer edge of the back of the machine. Remove these screws and the case will easily slide off.

In order to get to the card you will need to remove the top fan and the bar holding it in place.

You will find two screws on the back of the machine holding a small vented cover on

as well as two screws along the middle of the top of the machine holding the fan bar in place.

Once those screws are removed, the fan bar assembly should lift upwards.
Lift the fan bar assembly up and lay it upside down on the top of the TriCaster. There is no need to unplug the power line for the fan.

The card can now be accessed.

Remove the one downward facing screw holding the HD card in on the back of the TriCaster unit. The HD card is identified by being the card installed just to the right of the graphics card on the right side of the machine. The back of the card may have 2 blue VGA ports that are unused and should be capped; otherwise, the HD card will have a blank filler plate on the back.

Gently pull the HD card up from the motherboard and firmly re-seat it.

Also make sure all the cables are firmly seated in place.



With the card reseated, put the unit back together then power it on and check if your problem has been resolved.
